Real Wedding | L + M | Abernethy Center, OR | Reception Details

December 23rd, 2010

In {Part One} of this wedding post, I shared with you the amazing photos of the ceremony site florals & decor, bridal party flowers, guest book table decor, and other gorgeous little details of the wedding day.  Today I’ll focus on the reception flowers, decor and details.  The photographer, Cami, did such a wonderful job taking the time to capture the beauty of all these little details that made this day so special – Love you Cami!

We lined the front edge of the head table with small glass cubes wrapped with ivory lace ribbon and a single white dahlia bloom placed inside.  In between the cube vases, we placed clusters of white hydrangea heads [we placed water tubes on the ends of them of course - they wouldn't have lasted more than 30 minutes in the heat!].  I chose all ivory blooms to contract with the plum linens and add to the romantic atmosphere.

The 12 person bridal party sat on bronze chiavari chairs at the head table.  The wedding guests were seated at the 30 guest tables on white wooden folding chairs.  The chairs contrasted beautifully against the plum linens.

We hung these floral pieces from the bride & grooms bronze chiavari chairs.

The centerpieces consisted of fluffy white hydrangeas, black dahlias, deep purple agonis [which added  beautiful texture and color], and folded aspidistra leaves [which had burgandy striping through them].

The floral centerpieces were placed atop these tall glass cylinder vases to bring them up above that line of site/conversation.  They also filled in the space of the reception tent beautifully!  We filled the vases with d’Anjou pears and curly willow tips.  The soft green from the pears brought another soft, earthy color to the color pallete, and looked so nice against the plum table linen.  [The groosmen were also wearing green ties!]

Last, but not least, is the D-licious [and of course, beautiful...] cake!  Three tiers covered in the creamiest, tastiest buttercream I’ve EVER had – with a pear-green grosgrain ribbon wrapped around each tier.  Small clusters of white hydrangea, black dahlias, fern curls, scabiosa pods, and agonis leaves accented a few corners and top of the cake.  The cake was placed on top of a low glass cylinder vase filled with black dahlias and white hydrangeas.  A unique way not only to give the cake some height, but to display the beautiful blooms that were featured throughout the day!

Thank you not only to the amazing vendors, but to the entire Rusnac clan, who helped this day run so smoothly, and of course showed so much love and support for Marius & Lavinia.

And a special note to the bride & groom:  I love you guys so much!! And yes, Lavinia, I’m tearing up as I type this… You guys had such a beautiful wedding day.  And it was mostly because of the love you two have for eachother and your family!  Thank you so much for letting me take part in it, and for giving me the creative freedom that you did.  Thanks for trusting me with all these little details too – I had SO much fun designing for your wedding, and I’m so thrilled that you now have these amazing photos to remember it all by!  I hope that it was everything you dreamed it would be!  I wish you all the happiness in the world for your future together!  MUAH!!

December 22nd, 2010

I’m going to share with you the A M A Z I N G photos taken by {Cami Farcas} of my beautiful sister.in.law Lavinia’s wedding on August 14, 2010. {Bouquet photos here}

I’m going to split the photos up between two posts… The first one here, will feature all the gorgeous details of the ceremony site, guest book table decor, some of the bridal party, and floral pieces used throughout.  The follow up post will feature the reception florals and decor.

Get ready to fall in L O V E.

 Check out the beautiful ivory lace and crystal beading on Lavinia’s gown!  Lace and crystal beading details were added in different ways in the wedding decor & florals {the bouquet handles, head table vases [next post]}

Best bridal party E V E R – they had WAY too much fun that day!

Groomsmen boutonnieres – Gosh, I had so much fun designing for this wedding!

Ceremony Site – the picture above was shot prior to complete set-up, but you can still see how GORGEOUS the location was.  SO romantic, that weeping willow, ugh!!

Aisle decor… The gorgeous mason jar arrangements were hung from chairs down the aisle using bronze ribbon, and white rose petals were sprinkled down the sides of the aisle.  The bride & groom sat on bronze chiavari chairs under the shade of the gazebo, which was draped with deep purple panels [same color as the bridesmaids dresses], held back with 2 floral pieces.

Pretty little mason jars hung from the aisle chairs.
Beautiful black dahlias and creamy white hydrangeas were the main flowers used, accented with deep purple agonis leaves.  In the mason jars we also added some scabiosa pods.

The beautiful programs designed and printed by my sister.in.law Simona of {Rusnac Design Lab}.

Special messages were written on these tags cut from coordinating paper, and hung from bronze ribbon that matched the ribbon used on bouquets, boutonnieres, and other elements in the wedding.  They were then hung from a copper-painted manzanita branch.

Guests also left their names and messages in a traditional guest book.

The stars of the show! They loved having their own little bouquets!
My sweet daughter Olivia [left] and cousin Evelyn [on the right].

My sweet princess.

 Bliss.

Ah, the bridal bouquet. Gorgeous white and purple cascading phalaenopsis orchids.  The handle was embellished with bronze satin ribbon, ivory lace to match the brides dress, and an elegant crystal beaded applique added that little bit of glitz!

And a few of the bridesmaids bouquets captured by the photographer, Cami.

Gorgeous shot of their rings.  Love the moss!  Very Pacific Northwest!

I’m so excited to share the rest of the pictures with you – check back soon!  Knowing me, I’ll have them up sooner than you think, they’re just to gorgeous to keep to myself!

Have a wonderful Christmas everyone!

Dreaming of a White Christmas

December 22nd, 2010

I have a confession.  Every time Portland has the tinniest bit of snow in the forecast, I secretly wish that a massive blizzard will cover the city with feet of snow, forcing us to stay warm and safe in our homes!  Daddy can’t leave to work, Mommy can’t go run errands… SNOWED IN!!  Fireplaces on, sipping hot cocoa and watching Elf with the kids.

Hey, a girl can dream, can’t she?!

Well, since the chances of that are pretty slim, I guess I’ll just have to keep telling myself that the pitter patter of Portland raindrops on my roof are “soothing”, and I’ll keep dreaming of that White Christmas.

Here are some floral pieces that I put together this December for a few Christmas gatherings.  These arrangements were inspired by the beauty that is – SNOW.  Fluffy white hydrangeas, velvety grey dusty miller, lush white peonies, silver brunia berries, and you’ll also see some birch branches, ilex branches/berries, and maidens hair fern

Enjoy.  And have a VERY Merry Christmas!
