Flowers for the Bride and Groom [Portland Wedding Floral Design]

August 28th, 2011

I never, EVER get tired of sharing in the joy of the most special day in a couples life – their Wedding Day.

Sure, it gets crazy behind the scenes, but at the end of the day, it’s such an amazing feeling and I am so blessed to get to do this!

This weekend, I had the privilege of working with two wonderful brides on their weddings.  The first was a huge wedding for 300 guests, with romantic soft white florals and pearl accents.  The second, a simple order for a bridal bouquet and matching boutonniere with a vintage feel.

Here are the bridal bouquets and matching grooms boutonnieres that I designed for this weekends gorgeous brides and their handsome grooms.

Enjoy!

A million thank you‘s go out to my vendor friends and girl friends who came out and made this happen – I don’t bake, do hair, makeup, or any of those things that made this inspiration shoot what it is.  And I certainly couldn’t have set up or cleaned up in the time that we did, without these amazing women!

I hope you enjoy drooling over these photos as much as I did when I first laid eyes on them.

Wedding Floral Design – Behind the scenes…

August 8th, 2011

I thought it would be fun to occasionally give you all a peek behind the scenes of wedding floral design, so I’ve created a new category here on the blog and once in a while I’ll share some fun pictures with you of what goes on here at Fleur:ology when prepping for a wedding!

Today I will just share with you a few images of the beautiful blooms from my wedding yesterday, as well as some shots I took while working, and getting ready to deliver.  I created bridal party and family floral pieces for my bride, and high school friend, Ellie.  I promise I’ll share the photos of the finished designs in a later post, just enjoy these “before” pictures for now.

Just a little lesson on what goes into floral design… I picked up my flowers from the market early in the morning, and since they’ve traveled great distances packed tight in cardboard boxes, the first thing you want to do is give them all a fresh cut, cleaned off thorns, leaves, etc.,  and get them in WATER.  I love being a florist, I really do… but it’s not as glamorous as one would think.  ;)

Here are some shots I took while working… I’ve got my stems all cleaned and layed out, ready for me to grab and work into the bouquets.  It’s always easier to have it all ready to go, because remember, I’ve got the bouquet in one hand, and can’t just set it down if a stem needs to be cleaned or something, because the bouquet is still in process, not tied yet.. you get the picture.

I’ve got my clippers and scissors ALWAYS handy, and random stems that didn’t make the cut, just laying around.  Only the best, and most blemish-free blooms make it into my designs  ;)

Now all the buckets that were overflowing with flowers are getting emptier and emptier…

Prepping a cute basket to deliver the corsages in – presentation is SO important!

Got my vases ready with just enough water for the flowers to stay fresh, but not too much so the ribbon wrap doesn’t get soaked and leave spots on the girls’ dresses!

Now everything is all packed up and ready to go!  YAY for cargo space in my new little SUV!  :)
After I deliver the flowers, I need to go home and clean up the huge mess I’ve made… and on with the next wedding!  Gotta love wedding season ;)

Bridal Bouquet for AniA Collection

August 6th, 2011

Here is a gorgeous bouquet I had fun designing for AniA Collection for this weekend.  I hope their brides enjoy holding these beautiful blooms while trying on the gorgeous gowns in their shop!  AniA’s is a fabulous bridal boutique, and I would recommend them to any bride in search of the bridal gown of her dreams!
