Alex + Mary | Details, Details…

January 7th, 2012

For every wedding I design, I can’t help but snap my own photos of my creations before they leave to be delivered.  Parting is such sweet sorrow.  I really do fall in love with the theme, flowers, and designs of each wedding I do, and I am so thankful that at the end of the day, I have some really great detail shots of the floral designs that were created for that weeks happy couple!
They’re not the greatest images, so to read the full post on Alex + Mary’s wedding, and to see the gorgeous professional images by MAXM Studio, go HERE.
To start us off, here is a photo of me designing one of the bridesmaids bouquets.
It’s rare that I get a photo of me actually designing, and you can’t even see my face, but here I am in action!
Here is a shot of me holding the bridal bouquet as I was adding more stems to it.

And a little close up shot of the bridal bouquet, and the little tag I attached that says “The Beautiful Bride”.
A close up of the gorgeous crystal beaded applique that was attached to the handle of the  bridal bouquet.  Sadly, this little beauty did a very good job of hiding itself from our cameras the day of the wedding, but I promise you, it looked just glorious on the bouquet handle!

The Maid of Honor [Sister of the Bride] also had a similar beaded applique on her bouquet handle, and again, this is the ONLY photo I have of it!  :(

All of the bouquets here, all lined up and waiting for the bride to come and see them for the first time!
And here, the look on the brides face when she saw the bouquets and boutonnieres I had delivered.
This makes my job SO fun!

The boutonnieres all boxed up, laying on a bed of moss.
Front and center is the Grooms Boutonniere consisting of a balsawood flower, poppy pod and silver brunia berries.

Next up, I’ll share images from the wedding reception, starting with the birdcage that sat on the guest sign in table. We filled it with moss and flowers, and also placed a cluster of flowers on the outside of it. [Pink peonies, white hydrangea, poppy pods, scabiosa pods, queen anne's lace, lady hair fern, filbert branch tips]

The low centerpieces were designed in a dark-stained wood box and filled with white hydrangea, dark pink peonies, scabiosa and poppy pods, a dried lotus pod and a touch of moss.  I mixed the glam/feminine theme with the woodsy elements by designing lush and girly floral with the natural pods, moss and wood vessel.

I love how these looked on the guest tables.
We had to save a lot of room for all the food appetizers, bread and beverages that would be set out on the tables before the guests even started being seated, so this centerpiece was the perfect size!
Again, I LOVE the guest favors that Mary chose – gold foiled Jordan Almonds sitting in a miniature bird nest!

The tall centerpieces were made similar to the low ones, but instead of moss, we added some super pretty queen anne’s lace to add a feminine touch.

The centerpieces were set atop a tall glass cylinder vase that was filled inside with moss and a few curly willow branches, and delicate hanging lady hair fern to add to the woodland feel.

The photo below is probably one of the only ones I have that would give you an idea of how the whole reception hall looked.  There were 40 guest tables all with ivory linens, chocolate brown chivari chairs, and the long head table seating the bridal party had a gorgeous ivory and brown drape behind it!
Last but not least, the Head Table Design.  I created an awesome monogram for the bride and groom that was covered in moss.  We hung it from the front of the head table with strips of burlap.

The front edge of the head table was lined with a tablescape of small floral arrangements, apothecary jars filled with flowers, moss, balsawood flowers, fern and pods.  There were candles wrapped in burlap, white river rocks scattered along the edge, lanterns filled with moss and candles, and bird nests filled with little eggs!
