Wedding Trend: Compote Floral Design | Portland, Oregon Wedding Floral design

May 29th, 2012

This past March, I was lucky enough to join a group of AMAZING wedding floral designers in New York City.  I am so so so blessed to be a member of the Chapel Designers Group and so thankful to Holly Heider Chapple for taking me under her wing… she is an amazing designer, Mother, and my flower mentor!  A few weeks ago, Isha Foss [an amazing designer based out of  Richmond, VA] suggested we all create a compote floral design, and each of us would share our designs with the group and their blog readers!

I have to say that everyones designs turned out beautifully!  We all have very different design styles and attempting to design the same style of arrangement was even more fun because of that.  I am so excited to share this gorgeous floral arrangement designed in a true vintage milk glass compote vase [a long stemmed, footed bowl used to hold fruits - or in this case, gorgeous flowers].  This beautiful vase is one of many in my niece, Abi’s amazing collection of milk glass pieces.

The arrangement was designed using fragrant lavender Lilac, scented Geranium Leaves, and lush white Hydrangea.  I had so much fun designing it, and it’s now sitting on my old piano in my home, filling the house with a gorgeous aroma!

Compote Designs are a really big wedding trend this season, and they can be done in so many different ways.  Even Martha Stewart blogged about the compote design trend last week!

Below you will find links to all of my Chapel Designers’ blog posts – there are some really amazing designs, I am so proud to be a part of this super talented group of designers!  Check out their blog posts and compote designs below!

Bridal Bouquet Sneak Peek | Abernethy Center Wedding

May 26th, 2012

Lilac & Peonies.  This has got to be my favorite combination right now!  Pair them with some gorgeous roses & a touch of Queen Anne’s Lace to give it a vintage feel.  So lush and romantic!  I wrapped the stems of this gorgeous bouquet with purple satin ribbon and detailed it with a piece of lace that is from the Mother of the Brides own wedding gown!  So excited for this weekends wedding at the Abernethy Center in Oregon City!  Congrats to Jackie & Matt!

Best Gift Ever | Mothers Day 2012

May 17th, 2012

This Mothers Day was the best EVER. Maybe it’s because they’re older now.  They’re I LOVE YOU’s and hugs & kisses mean more now than ever.

Church on Sunday morning, BBQ lunch at Grandma’s house, then a last minute overnight trip to Seattle with Daddy & my loves, and a fun train ride home!

Being a Mom is the best gift EVER.

Mothers Day Pop Up Shop

May 11th, 2012

Just wanted to share some pictures of our pretty little Mothers Day Pop Up Shop this year! I snapped these pictures while we were setting up this morning.  Come visit us today and tomorrow at Stomping Ground Coffee House from 10am – 6pm and buy Mom some gorgeous flowers!

My sweet little helper Olivia. Ugh, love her so much!

Lindsay of Paper Bloom dropped of some super cute Mothers Day greeting cards to go along with your arrangement for Mom!

We have lots of super gorgeous potted succulents that make a great gift and will last for months after the holiday has passed!

Mothers Day 2012

May 10th, 2012

Mothers Day is the best Holiday ever invented.  Sure, we all love our Mom’s.  And we don’t really  need a special day to let her know how much she means to us. We should be telling her that we love her EVERY DAY.  But this is the one day that Mom gets to be spoiled. Rotten. :)  I can’t wait until my kiddos are old enough to pick up on my little clues for gifts to get me on Mothers day! But for now, my heart is content with little drawings that say “I Love You Mom”…  Written in crayon.

If your Mother loves flowers, coffee, gorgeous stationary, or all THREE, come pay us a visit this year at our Mothers Day Pop Up Shop in Fairview, OR inside of Stomping Grounds Coffee House.  Spoil your Mom, Grandma, or a even an Aunt with a special gift that will remind her how much she means to you!  You can grab a bag of Portland Roasting Coffee Beans and a sweet little card designed by Paper Bloom! We’ll be there from 10am to 6pm this Friday, May 11th and Saturday, May 12th until we run out of flowers! :)

Here is a sweet little arrangement that we made today, all ready for our pop up shop tomorrow and Saturday!
