Wedding Trend: Compote Floral Design | Portland, Oregon Wedding Floral design

May 29th, 2012

This past March, I was lucky enough to join a group of AMAZING wedding floral designers in New York City.  I am so so so blessed to be a member of the Chapel Designers Group and so thankful to Holly Heider Chapple for taking me under her wing… she is an amazing designer, Mother, and my flower mentor!  A few weeks ago, Isha Foss [an amazing designer based out of  Richmond, VA] suggested we all create a compote floral design, and each of us would share our designs with the group and their blog readers!

I have to say that everyones designs turned out beautifully!  We all have very different design styles and attempting to design the same style of arrangement was even more fun because of that.  I am so excited to share this gorgeous floral arrangement designed in a true vintage milk glass compote vase [a long stemmed, footed bowl used to hold fruits - or in this case, gorgeous flowers].  This beautiful vase is one of many in my niece, Abi’s amazing collection of milk glass pieces.

The arrangement was designed using fragrant lavender Lilac, scented Geranium Leaves, and lush white Hydrangea.  I had so much fun designing it, and it’s now sitting on my old piano in my home, filling the house with a gorgeous aroma!

Compote Designs are a really big wedding trend this season, and they can be done in so many different ways.  Even Martha Stewart blogged about the compote design trend last week!

Below you will find links to all of my Chapel Designers’ blog posts – there are some really amazing designs, I am so proud to be a part of this super talented group of designers!  Check out their blog posts and compote designs below!

Lovely! Isn’t the compote the perfect vessel for displaying lilacs?
