Wedding Aisle Decor | Our Favorites

June 4th, 2013

I’m so excited to be participating in yet another Progressive Blog Post along with my amazing wedding floral designer friends from around the country, the Chapel Designers.  Today we’re talking about our favorite Wedding Aisle Decor from past weddings, and here a few of my own!

Outdoor weddings are so gorgeous in Oregon, and most of the time brides we work with opt to go minimal on aisle decor for their outdoor ceremony.  There’s no point in trying to compete with the beautiful setting Mother Nature provides!  But we are happy to pretty up the aisle with flowers either way, as grand or understated as you’d like!

Sadly, the summer wedding season is short here in the Northwest, and many couples opt to have their wedding ceremonies indoors “just in case” of a rain shower.  But there are so many beautiful churches and wedding venues in Portland, and we love coming up with creative ideas with our brides to dress up the aisle they’ll be walking down on their wedding day!  We tend to go a bit grander for indoor ceremony aisle decor with most of the floral designs being transported and repurposed for the reception afterwards.  Here are some examples of what we’ve done in the past!

Wedding Trend: Compote Floral Design | Portland, Oregon Wedding Floral design

May 29th, 2012

This past March, I was lucky enough to join a group of AMAZING wedding floral designers in New York City.  I am so so so blessed to be a member of the Chapel Designers Group and so thankful to Holly Heider Chapple for taking me under her wing… she is an amazing designer, Mother, and my flower mentor!  A few weeks ago, Isha Foss [an amazing designer based out of  Richmond, VA] suggested we all create a compote floral design, and each of us would share our designs with the group and their blog readers!

I have to say that everyones designs turned out beautifully!  We all have very different design styles and attempting to design the same style of arrangement was even more fun because of that.  I am so excited to share this gorgeous floral arrangement designed in a true vintage milk glass compote vase [a long stemmed, footed bowl used to hold fruits - or in this case, gorgeous flowers].  This beautiful vase is one of many in my niece, Abi’s amazing collection of milk glass pieces.

The arrangement was designed using fragrant lavender Lilac, scented Geranium Leaves, and lush white Hydrangea.  I had so much fun designing it, and it’s now sitting on my old piano in my home, filling the house with a gorgeous aroma!

Compote Designs are a really big wedding trend this season, and they can be done in so many different ways.  Even Martha Stewart blogged about the compote design trend last week!

Below you will find links to all of my Chapel Designers’ blog posts – there are some really amazing designs, I am so proud to be a part of this super talented group of designers!  Check out their blog posts and compote designs below!
